Hafla Beyond the Mountain

Desert Moon Dancers

Join us for a day of Near and Middle Eastern dance and music in the Middle Ages at our first ever Barony Beyond the Mountain Hafla!  Get ready for mid-summer events - Pennsic and beyond.  Our class theme will be Bringing the Past into the Present - how to bring period knowledge into our Middle Eastern practice in these current Middle Ages.  And, of course, to have fun while doing so!

Sat., June 30, 2012
Connecticut College
Crozier Williams Student Center
2nd Floor Dance Department
New London, CT

Note - This event is offered through the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA, Inc.).  All attendees must make an attempt at period garb - approximately 600 - 1600 AD.

The event will be held indoors at the Connecticut College Crozier Williams Student Center in the second floor Dance Department.  We will have use of two very nice large dance spaces, including one with mirrors, and a large space for musicians to get together and make noise.  There is smaller less formal space for other types of classes related to Middle Eastern culture (costuming, henna, and the like).  One of the dance spaces will also serve as the hafla performance space and has a wooden floor area for dancing and lots of audience space.
