In 1990 Su'ad began teaching Middle Eastern dance lessons in Barkhampstead, CT. In 1991 we had our first performance at the SCA East Kingdom University event, and as a class we decided to call ourselves the Desert Moon Dancers. 20 years later... the troupe is still going strong.

On December 10th we celebrated 20 years as a troupe.  Seating was limited, so the hafla was invitation-only.  Approximately 60 friends and family joined us as we treated them to a walk down memory lane, performing dances that we did at our very first performance, dances we only learned or created in the past year, and many dances in between.   A slideshow greeted our guests as they arrived, with countless photos and the occasional "notable quotable" for them to enjoy or puzzle over.  Rik announced the show, which included telling a handful of stories, both short and long, about memorable events that tied into certain dances.

All around, it was a magical evening.
