Glastonbury Classes PDF Print E-mail

The Desert Moon Dancers meet at the Arthur Murray dance studio in Glastonbury, CT every Sunday at noon.

Class structure will remain the same with all levels technique (intermediate through professional) from 12:00 - 1:00 PM, followed by troupe rehearsal from 1:00 - 3:00 PM (and longer as needed).

We will continue technique building and learning choreography with an eye for performing for those interested. Emphasis for both classes will be building of technique, combinations and musical interpretation with additional work including zils, cane, and veil.

Note: Payment by month only! Classes are $10 per week for the All Levels class.  For troupe pricing or more information, contact Su'ad.

This wonderful, annual event has been around for close to two decades, and the Desert Moon Dancers have been there almost since the beginning.  The theme this year is "Engaging Global Communities."  Come enjoy a day of celebrating international engagement and cultural diversity!

The 11th annual Dancefest New Jersey will feature mini-workshops with Farasha, Su'ad, and Audie.

Su'ad will teach a class on hip technique using weighted vs. unweighted hip movements to a short drum solo.

Class with Audie: Body Connections.
Guest teacher Audie will teach you how to make your movements flow by using snake hips, undulations, and other movements.

Class with Farasha: Audience Connections.
Farasha will explore ways to reach and connect with your audience by using different expressions to convey the feeling of your dance.

Join us for a fabulous day long master seminar and showcase featuring workshop participants, Farasha, Su'ad and Aszmara. Vending by Farasha & Su'ad Dance & Designs and others.

Aszmara will teach a full choreography using veil to the song "Hayati Inta" by Natacha Atlas. The class will focus on technique, building to a choreography that will lead students of any level into a complete study of the depth of movement behind "the Passionate Veil."

Aszmara performs with an electric excitement of dance and music. A leader in the field of Oriental dance, Aszmara's dance interprets the music with her own blend of modern, traditional and folkloric Arabic and Turkish music.
