The Ultimate Ghawazi Intensive with Habiba!

A one-day intensive workshop featuring instruction in Ghawazi technique, choreography, staging, costuming, dance demonstration, and a lecture by Habiba on the history of the Ghawazi.

Habiba of Philadelphia is offering total education in Ghawazi-style dance for oriental and tribal dancers (soloists and troupes) who want to add this tribal heritage to their repertoire.  The Ghawazi were the famous dancing girls of Egypt, who carried on the tradition of entertaining as a hereditary occupation.

Habiba has studied extensively with the Banat Maazin of Egypt and recently returned from a special trip where she studied with Khairiyya Maazin, the last of her family who actively performs.  Our one-day intensive workshop features instruction in Ghawazi technique, a Ghawazi-style dance choreography, including staging tips.  An unforgettable treat!
