Desert Moon Dancers 25th Anniversary ShowSaturday, December 10, 2016 Connecticut College The Desert Moon Dancers (DMD) Middle Eastern Dance troupe of CT celebrate 25 years of "belly" dance in this special show that is a benefit for AmeriCares. They will be joined onstage by dance friends:
All proceeds will be donated to AmeriCares -- an emergency response and global health organization that saves lives and builds healthier futures for people in crisis in the U.S. and around the world. With headquarters in Connecticut, AmeriCares is the No. 1 nonprofit provider of donated medicines and supplies, including emergency preparedness, response and recovery efforts, and programs that improve health outcomes.
DMD had their first troupe performance in December 1991. Under the direction of Artistic Director, Su'ad, they have performed at many venues throughout the Northeast with dances that include styles from folkloric to modern. Troupe members Hijara, Astrea, Rayya, Khalisa, Elena, and Azziza will join Su'ad on stage to showcase their variety of dance styles, choreography, and solo dance artistry.
